Can't use the webcam on an MSI U100 netbook

Hi,hope someone can help! I have pressed f6 and the ftn button, it says it's switched on but it's not! There's no webcam option in the start menu and so far googling hasn't given me any answers, does anyone have any experience with the same problem?

What application are you trying to use it with? Skype?

no, in the netbook I had just before this one i would just switch the camera on by pressing those two buttons and it would switch on and I could just take pictures with it without having to use skype or anything
