Has anyone managed to register a Vodaphone sim?

I bought a Vodaphone sim card from Asda for my (technophobic) husband's very basic phone, but it is being a nightmare to set up. According to the instructions, if I press *##100#, the phone should show the telephone number. It doesn't.

I tried to use the freephone number to add credit, but it will only allow me to use a credit card which has been registered already.

I can't find any useful number on the Vodaphone website and their trouble shooting email service will only accept an email if I can include my telephone number which 'i can't because I can't set it up!!!!!

Ready to jump on the sim card until I have reduced it to powder!

I had HUGE problems registering mine in December. Apparently there was a dodgy batch of thousands of sims.
I ended up going into a Vodaphone shop and refusing to leave until it was fixed. It took two hours and over 10 sim cards because I was connected.

TheMonster · 01/05/2011 10:26

I mean before I was connected.

Oh. Doesn't sound good. Sad

Hi UnSerpentQuiCourt,

I am sorry to hear that you are having problems registering the Vodafone SIM card.

So that I can help get this sorted out for you, can you drop me an email here goo.gl/LqgN with WRT135 (FAO Heidi) in the subject.

Many thanks,

Heidi

Thank you, Heidi; I have just got it sorted out by standing in the Vodaphone shop, as advised by Eeyore (why don't they have seats?) until they did it for me. They could not have been more helpful - maybe because I had three small children with me investigating all the demo mobiles!

I will NEVER deal with Vodafone over the internet again. I was completely mis-sold my phone, which is rubbish and not at all auitable for purpose. I was stupid enough to take the advice of the on-line lady.

UnSerpentQuiCourt · 04/05/2011 19:27

Thanks, Heidi (sounds as if Eeyore needs your help now!)

Hi BodyOfEeyore,

It's really disappointing to hear how you feel about the service you received.

When we give advice on handsets, there are always instances where the phone isn't quite what the customer wanted. This is why we will always give a seven day return period, so that the phone can be exchanged for a more suitable one.

How long have you had your phone for?

Many thanks,

Hi Heidi, I got my phone in December. Unfortunately I was not able to return it within seven days as it took two weeks from the phone arriving (in the wrong colour as well) to get the damn thing connected because of the dodgy sim cards.

TheMonster · 05/05/2011 19:58

UnSerpent, do check your tarriff too. When my phone was finially connected, the tarriff had been changed, and my £25 a month quoted tarriff had changed to £30 a month, with no free internet and it was costing me £50 a month. I spoke to Vodofone several times about it but with no joy. In the end I got my partner to speak to them and they listened to him. I was not amused at them not helping a woman!

UnSerpentQuiCourt · 05/05/2011 21:42

Eeyore, I have gone for pay-as-you-go. Hopefully that can't go wrong.

I did wonder if we'd ever hear from the Vodafone woman again. I am so unimpressed with their customer service.

HeidiVodafone · 11/05/2011 09:36

Hi BodyOfEeyore,

I am sorry to hear that you have experienced these issues, it's certainly not how we want our customers to view our service.

If you would like me to look into this personally for you, I would be more than happy. You can contact me via email at [email protected] with WRT135 (FAO Heidi) in the subject.

Many thanks,
