Ds2 has bought an MP3 with some birthday money and I am puzzled.

First, how do I charge it up - I have a USB connector with it but no charger. I can plug it into the computer but that doesn't seem to help. Do I need to buy a seperate charger?

Second, can I put music on it from a CD I already own? If so how? If not, where do I get the music from?

It's not an ipod btw, just a cheap as chips clip-on MP3.

TIA

I'd certainly expect the MP3 player to be recharged OK via the USB port. My (1 GB, 10 quid MP3 player with radio, image viewer, video player, audio recorder and FM radio) charges whenever it is plugged in.

RipStation Micro is a free CD ripper to make MP3s. You need to click the link to GD3 (Get Digital Data) and put in your e-mail address for that - GD3 is the database service used to find track names for the CDs you put into the PC.

Ripstation Micro can save music in a number of formats. For MP3s, I would suggest you use 192 kbps sampling (the higher the sampling, the better the quality but the larger the file size for each track).

Once you have some MP3 format tracks, you should be able to just drag and drop onto the MP3 player within Windows Explorer.

Thanks networkguy!

I actually managed to download some songs from a CD today via Windows Media player so I am very excited!

Will try the recharging and see if it keeps going!

Sorry for appalling typo in OP - I can spell separate, honest!

Don't worry about a typo - I see far worse (appaulling for example) - and despite my spending some time on Pedants' Corner, I will be first to say I make plenty of mistakes too :)
