Is there any reason why a wii bought in the UK won't work in Germany?

Obv I need to use an adaptor for the mains plug, but other than that is there a problem? It connects to the TV with an AV cable right? It's not compromised by being plugged in to a German TV or anything is it? It's just soooo much cheaper to buy in the UK than here.

We bought ours on Amazon UK and used it in Germany with no problems. As long as your tv has the white, yellow and red plugs on the side to plug it into, it should be fine imo.

Erm, no expert, but I know that my friend who used to work in Germany needed stuff doing to her tv & video when she came back to the UK. It wasn't just to do with socket adaptor and retuning it, more fundamental than that, I just don't know what. This was about 10 years ago and involved and electrician.

We had to get a new tv when we moved over to Germany - either that, or plumb everything through a German DVD or video player. But the Wii is literally just an add-on to your existing telly so I would think it would be ok.

I agree Scooter, having dug around a bit more on the Internet. We had to buy a new TV too when we moved here and we wouldn't be able to take our current one back if we were to go; or as bikerunski says, it would need some serious intervention to get it working. But since you've got your UK wii working on a German tv, that's my answer Smile Just ordered one on Amazon for 100 quid, whereas they're around ?190 on German Amazon Shock

Didn't know that about the TV. We did it the other way around - bought my brother a wii in Germany a couple of years ago when they were so scarce in UK. He couldn't believe that I just walked into MediaMarkt and picked one up.

Actually, while you're here, how many of the handheld thingies have you got? It's supplied with one - will we need another? The first games we'll have are the wii sports and wii sports resort. Any clues?

We nearly bought one a couple of Xmases ago MmeLindt after I saw all the threads on here saying they weren't available anywhere. They had loads in Kaufhof. Glad we didn't though, now I've got my mahoosive bargain from Amazon Grin
