I need to number a document, and it needs to look like this:

A1. Title X
A1.1
A1.2
A1.3

A2. Title Y
A2.1
A2.2
A2.3

B1. Title Z
B1.1
B1.2
B1.3

Is this even possible, and how on earth do you do it?

TIA

(p.s. I'm a regular on a name-change as I've asked this question everywhere, and don't want to be rumbled)

Yes you can do that sort of thing - I can't give you detailed step-by step but you start by clicking on the numbered list button next to the bullet-point button (it goes 123 instead of ...), Then if you right click on the list it has started, and go to "Bullets and Numbering" you can go to the tab for Outline Numbered and probably then Customise to set it up how you want it.

That's assuming Windows 2002 or similar - the options on 2007 will be called something else entirely, but they'll still be in there somewhere.

HTH!
