DS wants my old ipod for his birthday, so I am going to have to get myself a new oneGrin

So what's best?
The new 6th gen looks like it might be fiddly on the small screen
The 5th gen has a camera and looks like my old one, but I don't need the camera
Or do I go for an itouch?

help, please!

lol - same here. We promised dd she could have my "old" ipod when she tirned 8. This was when she was 6 - but she will be 8 in May so I need to ponder this too.

If you want something stylish, then go for a itouch. If you have, or want, a massively huge collection of music/pics, then the Ipod Classic is expensive, but has a nice big memory on it. I've got a huge collection and I love my Classic, but it's very plain in design and hasn't got the fancy touch screen, camera or anything like that.

Dd1 has the new ipod touch, which is fab
Dd2 has her old ipod nano.
My friend has the ipod classic.

I supposed it depends on what you want to primarily use it for.

Dd1 uses hers for games more than music whereas my friend listens to hours and hours of music and loves her classic.

Ooh, just found this again!
plonkerr why is the new ipodtouch so fantastic? What do you like about it? How many gb?

I am thinking new ipodtouch is the way to go, but would 8gb be enough?

I don't think I want a huge amount of music on it - I currently have an 8gb nano and have only used half of it for music.

I might put a few pictures on, but not loads. But I do want to get some of the apps.

Also I have speakers for my nano, but I bet the touch won't fit in themSad

"I am thinking new ipodtouch is the way to go, but would 8gb be enough?"

Well you say you've got an 8gb Nano and have about half the space clear so if you know for certain that that's all the music you want then you've got about half of it clear for apps and photos. So as long as you don't go to town you should be OK :)

Personally I'd say go for the biggest one you can justify, nothing is more annoying than running out of room and having to juggle what's on there.

"Also I have speakers for my nano, but I bet the touch won't fit in them"

It should do...

If the speakers using the standard dock adapter, the flat plug type thingy, they should be fine unless they've got some very odd adapter that will only physically fit a Nano.

It's dd1's ipod tilly, she loves it.

She loves the games on it (uses it much more than she ever used her ds) and uses it to 'speak' on msn to her friends and do facetime, which is like video calling.

She also likes the fact that she can listen to her music in her bathroom etc without having to use speakers.

We got her the 32gb on the recommedation of a friend who told me that an 8gb wouldn't be big enough if you're putting a few albums/vids on it.

A 16gb would have been better I think (the 32gb is £££) but they don't do one. Anyone know why?

I have a little play on it when she lets me every now and then and it is rather cool Grin
