Has anyone reset their Android 2.1 or reinstalled the software?

My phone has been behaving really badly since I installed 2.1, turning itself off, freezing and juddering and basically being rubbish. Carphone warehouse have told me that I probably need to reinstall the 2.1 software, and that I can do that myself (rather than send it off and be without my phone for 2 weeks) but googling around it's all the articles I've found relating to it are really jargony and hard to understand. Has anyone done this or know of a website that can tell me how to do it in words of one syllable?

Don't know what you've tried so far but have a look at this. This will wipe everything so make sure you've copied all your pictures, videos, contacts off before you do - basically backup everything you want to keep.

I updated my T-mobile Pulse to 2.1 a few months ago and have had terrible problems since, including not receiving lots of text messages. I finally went back to Android 1.5 this weekend to fix the bugs and it's a relief to have it working again tbh. This thread was really useful, clear instructions to do lots of different things.

Oops, just realised that is no use at all if you don't have that phone. The Modaco forums might have a section dedicated to your phone though that might have a similar thread?
