I have an 3G and my upgrade is due, is it worth paying the extra for the iPhone4?

What are the differences?

Not much tbh. I have the 3gs and dh has the 4. iphone 4 is a more square shape, has a flash on the camera and has face time video calling. That's the only things i can think of right now.

much better display (after using iphone4 for a few months and then looking at a 3gs... you really notice how inferior the 3gs screen is)

faster processor

double the ram

face time

The main camera on the 4 is better than the 3GS (5 Mega Pixels vs. 3 Mega Pixels).

The 4 also has slightly improved battery life, 7 hours of talking vs. 5 hours.

Is there an iPhone5 due out anytime soon, don't want to get the iPhone4 and then a new one comes out straight away!

You are perhaps 6 months away from the next iPhone coming out.

Check past UK launch dates... I am guessing:

Spring: iPad,
Summer: iPhone,
Autumn {?} iPod

but someone else can pop in and correct me with months...

Perhaps worth checking are comments on this and other web sites about multi-tasking (which may be possible on 3GS but might slow it down a lot, based on feedback from real users - I have no iPhone, just going on what I have read).

New iphones normally come out in June/July. I suspect there will be another this year.

I upgraded to an iPhone 4 from a 3G this week and I just can't believe how much better it is, the camera is fantastic, battery is far superior, screen is 100% better, sound quality is better. I haven't worked out how to multi task yet but so far so good :)

I've had all of them. 3G, 3GS and now have a 4. Blush

You will notice a HUGE leap by going to 4. Aside from the looks & the screen I didnt notice a big difference between the 3GS and 4. There was a fair leap from 3G to 3GS.

Battery life is deffo improved with the 4 despite the more powerful processor. I no longer have to constantly charge it.

The rest are all gimmicks really. Facetime & the front camera will amuse you for about 2 seconds. The LED flash is best used as a torch. Once you put your beloved iphone in a case, there's hardly any difference between the 3GS & 4 lookswise until you show people the screen.

The retina display is simply LEGEND......(wait for it).........ARY.

If I were in your shoes I'd either upgrade to the 4 now or wait until the 5 comes out. Bear in mind that even if Apple release it say in August, you may end up waiting later depending on stocks. So the question becomes, can you wait that long?
