Anyone get their legal copy of MS Office off Software4Students?

Given how cheap it is... (I'm using "cheap" in the same sense as the people over on the Indepenependent Schools (sic) thread)

I've been wondering what the catch is before I go into it. We have Word etc. (ancient copy) on the PC, and DW has it ready-installed on her work laptop, but we've got an additional second-hand laptop without it on and I've been looking for the best place to get hold of it.

As DD is a "student" (they extend this to include school pupils) I'm assuming we can just buy it in her name? Anyone had any problems doing this, or indeed good experiences?

We've also used them for MS Office and also a animation package for DS. He is also still at school and all we had to do was show some proof of this. No catch and no problems with them.

I bought Office from Software4Students a year or so ago. As best I can see (and I'm quite a stickler about software licensing) it's entirely legitimate and I had nothing but a good experience. You don't get the full-size box you'd get in PC World but you do get a proper Microsoft branded disk with the Microsoft hologram-backed license key.

It took a bit longer to deliver than they originally quoted as this was about the time that Windows 7 came out so they were inundated with Win7 purchases. Even then, though, they kept me informed of the delay. As long as you qualify then go for it.

Yes, no problems here. We got a letter from the school to confirm DS a pupil.

They say you can use photo ID. Can I use DD's passport or would I need a letter from the school?

Would need to be something to prove she is at a particular school I think, so not sure how photo ID works.
We just used a scanned copy of a recent invoice for music tuition - was on school headed notepaper and had DS's name and address on it.
