why can't my laptops connect to the wireless router anymore - but the desktop can?

Can anyone help?

the dc's laptops won't connect to our home wireless router. This router is connected to the desktop with an ethernet cable (I think that's right...duh!) and the desktop is working fine - as are the laptops if we connect them using the ethernet cable.

The message on the laptops is that the security code is not accepted but we haven't changed anything afaik.

Hope the geeks are about, and not too hungover. Happy New Year!

What make/model of router is it? It should tell you on the main screen after you log in.

Try to find the wireless section and look under security. It might be called something like WPA/WPA2 or preshared key.

Basically you are looking for the password. If you can post the exact model, can try to narrow it down for you.

Listen you lot, you won't believe this.

So I'm logged into the router (as I said) and I say to dd1 who's sitting behind me watching a film on dd2's laptop:

"it says here on my screen that dd2's laptop is connected"

dd1 looks for icon at bottom of laptop screen. "Oh yes, it is connected".

she then goes to get her own laptop...and...lo and behold...that also connects without trouble.

If I hadn't seen with my own eyes the window that said their passwords were wrong I would now be saying they were imagining the whole problem.
