I've just opened my EOS 500D and need to put the software on my MacBook Air before I can start using it properly. I don't have a disk drive with my MBAir and am not sure what to do. I am a bit of a novice here.

TIA.

I have a Mac book pro and I am pretty sure I just plugged it in!

You will need an external disk drive.

...but you should be able to get basic functinality from just your computer. The disc is just if you want manipulation software.

Ah. So I won't damage the camera or Mac by just connecting it? Will it upload the photos into iPhoto?

Thanks for your responses.

Yes iPhoto picks it up. I remember it being very easy.
