I'm really struggling and I want to scream. I'm trying to set up a Leaptop, so apparently I need to log on to their leapfrog connect page. Which tells me I need to download their stuff and then download the Adobe Flash updates. Flash took at least an hour but then told me it was complete.

But now I am trying to set up using the leapfrog connect page and it is still telling me I need to download flash. I have restarted the computer but it's made no difference. What can I doooooo???? I want to go to bed, I'm really tired, but I so wanted all this set up so it would work for dd2 in the morning.

Has it worked yet?

SmallerClanger · 24/12/2010 22:54

Any more info? DP is a flash geek!

Aranea · 24/12/2010 22:55

No, it's insisting that I download flash all over again. So now I'm just staring at a screen saying please wait while leapfrog connect downloads all of the necessary update files.

But what can have happened to flash which I thought I had downloaded?

I started trying to do all this 3 hours ago and I can't believe I'm back to square one.

grabs smallerclanger tightly

what info would help? I just can't find flash on my computer, nor can leapfrog, and yet it spent most of a century apparently downloading.

This should tell you what version of Flash you have, if it installed at all...
www.adobe.com/software/flash/about/

SmallerClanger · 24/12/2010 23:02

DP says flash should install very quickly so is not sure what couild have happened. if that screen shows a flash version, you at least did install it.

Aranea · 24/12/2010 23:05

Ooh, it says I have version 10,1,102,64 installed

so why can't I make anything work? I feel so inept

Every time I try to use the leapfrog connect page it just tells me I need to install flash first. aargh

Hi, we are now downloading the leapfrog software, to see how it works.

SmallerClanger · 24/12/2010 23:15

Christms eve is great isn't it! Luckily we put batteries in the new wii handsets and switched them on, they seemed to work ok...

shinyshoesandglitterypoos · 24/12/2010 23:20

Which version of Windows are you on. HAVE YOU REBOOTED YOUR COMPUTER? Try this - seriously, I recall one version of Windows doesn't run the new version of Flash until you do. Good luck! :)

SmallerClanger · 24/12/2010 23:23

It is possible you need the standalone player (not the version int he browser) for the leapfrog application to work.

Try this:
download.macromedia.com/pub/flashplayer/updaters/10/flashplayer_10_sa.exe

Save it then run the file to install.

Aranea · 24/12/2010 23:25

thank you I am trying that download now.

(yes, I have rebooted but it didn't make any difference. I hate the computer now. It used to be my friend but it can leave now.)

Uninstall your current flash. Try again.

nannynick · 24/12/2010 23:35

Leapfrog support says something about Flash needing to be in the correct folder, but does not say where the correct folder is located.

It says when downloading select Other Browsers in Step 2.

Aranea · 24/12/2010 23:37

I think that's worked!!!! fingers crossed...

smallerclanger you are a saint thank you so so much.

nannynick, I know, it's really annoying isn't it? Gah.

Anyway, will try and finish setting up now.

Have a very happy christmas everybody, with extra special christmassy sprinkles smallerclanger.

There is a post in leapfrog community saying:

"I also have a windows 7 operating system. I was having the same issue and I was able to resolve it, by doing a right button click on the leapfrog connect icon and then select properties , select compatibility tab and put a check mark in the compatibility mode for windows xp and select okay."

Worth a try perhaps.

What operating system are you running, Windows 7, Vista, XP etc?

SmallerClanger · 24/12/2010 23:41

ooh, I love a happy ending! I was just the intermediary, but we will both cover ourselves in sprinkles and go and fill the DDs stockings! happy Christmas, Aranea and especially DD2...
