Why are the colours all strange (sort of greeny/yellow) when I use my laptop.....

with the church projector, but the church on the colours are normal?

Projector works fine with church latop - projects the same colours as are on the laptop to the big screen.

But mine it's all wrong and sort of a washed out green/yellow colour whe projected.

Is it just because I have a cheap laptop or is there something I'm missing???

Can you find another screen to plug your laptop into?

It might be that your screen output port is damaged, or there might be some screen dependent settings buried away somewhere.

I presume you're using Windows, which version?

Sounds like the video socket in your laptop is broken and not making a connection for red and/or blue. Although, more usually, problems like this are more usually seen in the cable rather than the socket.

Do you use the same cable with the church's laptop that you do with yours?

I hope the output port isn't damaged - have only had the laptop a month!

I do use the same cable as the church one - but one thing which could possibly be affecting it based on that not making a connection thing is that my laptop doesn't have the holes to screw it in (does that make sense?) so I just have to slot it in and hope it doesn't fall out - could that be making the connection not be correct?

The lack of screws should be fine.

VGA does RGB so if yellow is genuinely appearing then it could be the Blue signal (either the output or return pin) that is dodgy.

Try and try it on another monitor. If it's only a month old you should be able to take it back to the shop, if need be try it on one of their screens.

I bought it online from a ==catalogue-- non computer shop - I suppose the easiest thing to do would just be to buy a memory stick so I can just carry that across to church rather than my laptop

Was just very annoying to have spent ages on the stuff for the service yesterday only for it to all come up in silly colours >>
