Hotmail account - possible virus sending emails to everyone in my address book

Hi

My hotmail account has sent an email to everyone in my address book this evening with a link to a dodgy website. I have Kaspersky anti virus which hasn't picked anything up. What can I do to get rid of this? I have changed my password but don't know if this will be enough. TIA

Its a worm. if changing the password does not help you'll have to create a new account

Hi wonka, thanks for the reply - I have also deleted all of my contacts so that it can't forward itself on to anyone. How has it managed to get past my anti virus software?

Yes it's happening to me too!
Haven't got a clue what to do about it either, so hoping someone techy turns up here soon...

This happened to me a while ago, I think changing my password fixed it.

The virus isn't on your machine. It's somehow got hold of your password and is using it to access your hotmail account from another PC. Changing your password will resolve it.
