Can't log on to PC!!

Used my desk top PC earlier, didn't notice anything different, logged off etc. Tried to go back on a few hours later, and as soon as I put the password in I get the message 'User profile cannot be loaded'. I've used the laptop to look up various solutions but they're all very technical & I don't understand them!

A couple have suggested using the Windows DVD to reinstall and then set up a new account.

Any advice/suggestions gratefully received!

Hmmmm - be careful about reinstalling as it might (check first) wipe all your documents and stuff (as they're held under the Windows\users area).

Assuming you have nothign illegal on there (not even sure why I said that) and you have a really good friendly local pc repair shop, I'd take it in there and get them to hack the password. Probably best not to leave it there tho - they should be able to tell you if they can hack it there and then.

at the very least, they will be able to back up your documents and stuff first before doing the re-install (I could do that bit, so it's probably in your compass too).
