Why won't it let me print without saving?

My husband must have inadvertently changed some setting on our laptop, which runs Vista, and now when I want to print an email (Microsoft Outlook) attachment it comes up with a box saying "Save as" and then below "File Name" "Save as Type", which it's never done before. In most cases it has jpeg as the "save as type" default. However, even if I save and then open the document or attachment elsewhere it still won't let me print and keeps throwing this box up. Please help!!

Is your printer window set to create a PDF or to print to file, rather than to an actual printer?

Control Panel - Hardware & Sound - Printer - look at which of the icons has the Green Tick. That is the Default Printer.

Sounds like the Default Printer has been changed to File, or PDF or something like that.

Click Once on the icon for the printer you want to use and at the top of that window, you will see Set As Default.

Thanks so much Tee and Nanny. Problem solved. He'd set it to print to another printer, which doesn't exist! Thanks again.
