I have decided on an Android phone.

If you have an Android phone, could you please tell me what handset you have and if you recommend it.

Also, my current contract is due to run out in 2 weeks ...has anyone found a great deal on an Android handset?

I'm currently paying £25 per mnth and get 750 minutes and 750 texts. I'm looking for something similar.

I've also posted this in chat

Thanks in advance

Bump... Have seen mention that 1 or 2 come with Android v2.1 (but in April Google announced Android v2.2 so worth looking out for). Sorry, plonker, not using Android yet (I wish) but keeping my eyes open...

I'm using a HTC Magic and love it - bought it 2nd from e-bay and using 02 simplicity £15 for 100mins calls, unlimited texts and internet.

I have an HTC Wildfire, which runs Android 2.1. It is a slightly smaller version of the Desire, with a slightly lower res screen. The deal they have now is £20 per month, 600 mins, 500 texts, unlimited internet (which is about 2gb per month I think). You also get a 'booster' option which you can swap for extra mins/texts etc.

I'm very happy with the phone so far, the picture quality is great, and I have found it very easy to use (my first smart phone). There are a lot of guides around on how to do anything you want, and most of them are really easy to follow. I was tempted to get the Desire, but the Wildfire has turned out to be really good value, considering how much cheaper it is.

Have an HTC desire from Orange, pay 30 per month for unlimited texts and internet, and 400 minutes. Very nice phone, I MN and Facebook from it all the time. right now in fact!

I'd second (third? fourth??)the HTC votes - I've got an HTC Hero via T Mobile (who incidentally give you free internet as standard so you can use your account extra for something else like free texts/European calls etc)and I think it's fab. The apps are piling up for android phones, although not as prevalent as iPhone, yet...!

Regarding your deal, have you rung up your current provider to see what they'll offer you to stay with them? Just check the internet availability...

Have fun!

Anyone considering the HTC Desire might want to see if a new version is released in October. I know it's annoying to have to wait, but if it means you get Android v2.2 it may be worth the wait - 2.2 includes the ability to share the mobile network connection via wireless (like a home LAN) so if you have an iPad or iPod Touch you may be able to make the Desire act like a router and allow a laptop and other devices to go online, say if you had to visit a sick relative and all wanted to check for messages before you drive 200 miles home.

(OK, hypothetical example, but it will be of value to someone, so long as the network operators allow it and don't have stingy limits on how much data you can shift.)

I have a HTC Desire, love it. Have unlimited internet (3g a month in reality but even as a heavy user, which I am, I will never use), unlimited texts and 300 minutes on a 18 month contract for £25 with t-mobile. Do have to pay extra for photo texts and voicemail tho (but you can pay flat fee of £2.50 a month for voicemail if you are a heavy user of it - which I'm not)

Um, could sandy or team provide links? GrinBlush

I have an HTC Magic bought 2nd hand from ebay for £150 but they are a bit cheaper now. It is on a pay monthly contract with Tesco for £15 a month - unlimited texts (can't remember how many calls) and unlimited data. It's really good.
