Please, I am a complete novice gardener but want to brighten up front of house ready for family party next weekend.

My Mum suggested busy lizzies....anything else?? I have 4 pots and a hanging basket.

cheers,
Lucky

It's too early, by about 3 to 4 weeks, there's still a very good chance of frost. Put some balloons out instead. It's really not worth chancing it yet, a frost could very easily ruin all the tlc and money your pots would have cost you.

Sorry - I'm dying to do mine too.

For next weekend, you could get some tulip bulbs in flower ( my local garden centre has some )and maybe a few smaller pots of little violas. Both will be fine if there's a frost.

Or you could do something a bit different....get some foliage you like maybe attractive twigs too and hang bright baubles ooff them.

Or some bunting?

no, no- bizzie lizzies like cool shade.

Best bet is to go to a garden centre and buy some things already in flower- late flowering bulbs for example, or heathers and primulas.

Panises would be good- they like sun and are quite showy.
