Argh, dogs have dug holes in the lawn

and I'd like to know what the best way of dealing with them is (the holes, not the dogs - already roasting those on a spit ). There are three holes about 20-30cm diameter and between about 10 and 20cm deep.

I am a gardening dunce and have some questions:

  1. Should I fill them in with just topsoil or something else?

  2. Should I then use grass seed, or would small pieces of turf work?

  3. I suspect until the area has become established again into the lawn they will be attracted back there for another dig so I was considering pinning chicken wire over the areas... Or are there better ideas?

Thanks
