We are getting new outdoor steps in the garden what's better, decking or stone?

We are having our house extended so the current 7 concrete steps in the back garden will be demolished and rebuilt where our new door will be. I originally thought we'd get decking but I'm concerned this will be high maintenance and might rot. We currently have bog standard concrete steps with a black railing, not very pretty but they do the job.

I'm looking for some inspiration, any ideas between decking, stone or anything else?

decking can get v.slippery

try looking on a site like Marshalls for paving inspiration

Stone rather than decking which is too slippery for steps (in this country/climate at least).

We've just had a big renovation and our terrace redone. Ours is on 2 levels, upper level slate, lower deck. We decided on slate steps as were told by builders that deck would be way too slippy esp with young DC.
