My petunias and busy lizzies have been great over this summer but looking a bit tired now, so I'm getting ready to turf them out.

I'll put some daffodil bulbs in, but what can I put in to give some colour interest between now and spring.

I normally fall back on the old pansy, but I'd like a change, if there is one.

Have you thought about putting in some evergreen perennials like heuchera (red, green or caramel coloured leaves), black lily grass (ophiopogon), bronze carex or the mini-shrubs like skimmia that have berries?

There's quite a lot to choose from in the garden centres at the moment if you look outside the usual suspects.
