my pumpkins are taking over my garden! will they die if i cut the leaves back?

there are lots of yellow flowers and millions of leaves but cant actually see any pumpkin below! will they die if i cut the leaves back? they are quite literally expanding across my garden

Not an expert but i have pinched out the growing shoot on mine to stop them taking over the garden.

not sure but I have the same problem with my butternut squash in a raised bed- have reduced foliage by about 25%.

cut back the whole long tendril, leaves and all. I chop off loads. More will grow. Most pumpkins will happily grow upwards if you point htem up a hedge/tree
