Leggy Pansies/Violas. What's a gal to do?

They are looking a bit long and lanky, but are still flowering.

Can I pinch them right back almost to soil level or would that kill them completely?

I assume you shave your legs-pansies like it cool so shear them back! They will love you and bloom all the more for it.

Eat 'em.

yes cut them back about half way, leave a few flowers if you can.

keep pruning them back every now and again

That's right-you can have your pansies and eatthem too!

Good thread Mrsmaidamess as my violas have gone leggy too. If i cut back the really leggy violas in the window box in the shade - will they grow back too?

Are violas edible too?!

TubOfLardWithInferiorRange · 07/06/2009 13:49

Cutable and edible!
