DH needs loads of compost to keep his impressive crop going but we are broke at the moment. Any hints where its being sold cheap at the moment? Thanks

If you're anywhere near Huddersfield, come & take two bins full off our hands!

Moving house & buyer seems like not a garden person...

do your local council do garden waste recycling? if so they may well have free compost for collection.

oh thank you very much but we are very far away from you! In Essex.

I think some councils offer compost at a reasonable price. Perhaps phone yours and ask?

I got a ton of old horse shit for £25 last year. Any stables near you?

fwiw, our local council compost collection points are usually at the dump - so worth looking at the waste recycling part of the website.
And if you can't fnd anything also probably worth calling to check.

Yes, check whether your local authority makes compost and gives it away or sells it cheap. Otherwise, most garden centres do '3 for the price of 2' deals or similar, but that's for potting compost rather than the stuff straight from the compost heap.

I will phone them tomorrow to find out! I hope they do that would be brilliant! Am leaving to DH to surf the net for it tonight if he likes I have to go to bed. Thanks very much!

where in essex, I know that some Cambs ones do it (where we are) so if you are near the border that might be an option.
