Looking at a preplanted strawberry pot - has 5 plants in it (you know the type - they poke out hte sides).

What sort of yeild will I get off this? What shoudl I look for when buying?

I didn't realise until last week that there are some varieties called "perpetual" or "everbearing" eg. aromel or calypso and I'm sure a fair few others, that keep going for a much longer season so might be worth looking into .

We have probably 30 plants which gave us a decent crop for probably 6-8 weeks last year. I bought them as 3 different varities which had different fruiting times but they've all got a bit muddled with runners and I'm not sure which are which.

From those the DC's could take some to school each day, DH made several batches of ice cream and a thing of jam.

Do you get many off the trailing plants do you know? Its just that my Mum gave us some and I'm about to but them in baskets, planters etc

Growing them in hanging baskets helps keeps the slugs off.
