Need some advice-bought a couple of these today as very cheap. Do they need to be planted in a shady or sunny spot. What type of soil do they prefer? Thanks

They need acid soil, they won't do well otherwise.

Thanks for your reply-What type of compost do I need to buy then to add to soil?

Something like this

Yup - Ericaceous is the word to look out for.
I think they like a bit of shade.
I bought one from Sainsbury's which is doing quite well in a pot - and I have used the wrong compost and watered it too much initially! Seems to be quite robust. I will switch composts though

Also, you can buy fertilizer granules specifically for acid-loving plants like azaleas, which you can fork in around the plant when you put it in.
