Carefull with the greenhouse, I got one of the little outdoor ones. Lots of sun outbackdoor, seedlings doing well lots had come up, but too much sun the other day and I took off the cover on the tray and after the steam!! cleared it was cleared they had all died, oops.

Had to replant and move to a shadier spot.

I'm jealous of your cosmos seedlings. I love cosmos. I'll be sowing some in my next batch.

cosmos like to be stroked - honestly, helps them grow sturdy.

Mspontipine · 09/04/2009 23:12

I've got them out of their little greenhouses - now a bit tricky as the other breeds of seeds in there aren't showing at all yet. Will go and give them a little stroke missing. Thanks for that

Just given them a little stroke and a pep talk. Fist time I've grown plants for bedding and hanging baskets - how exciting!!

Great another Cosmos Virgin

I have 9 little seedlings that I need to put in pots - I am so scared I will kill them!

Good luck with yours

I love cosmos, it always does well, but the slugs love the red ones with the dark stalks, so careful when you plant them out!

Mspontipine · 10/04/2009 18:55

I will be Miggsie thanks . We don't have a huge slug problem here - not like my damp back yard at my old house - that was full of them and snails.
Maybe the lovely frog that was living in my front garden kept them in check. I loved him - would always pop out to say hello (scaring the life out of me most of the time) when watering last year. I'm hoping he'll turn up this year...

They fell over
Mum called them "leggy" and said I "forced them". I was only following instructions.

I dropped a box on them in the shed today
