returfing my lawn, how much for someone to do it?

Hello expert (and non-expert) gardeners

We would like our lawn returfed, it's a bit of a state. It's about 3m x 15m, so not that big.

How much would it cost for someone to just come and do it for us? DH and I are not very green fingered and very busy people so we would really want someone to do it.

Any ideas?

I'm not sure about Cambridge as I'm in Wiltshire, but I had to get mine re-turfed a couple of years ago after Leatherjackets ate every last blade of my grass

I phoned several places and then haggeld a lot with the one I decided to go for - it cost me £350 for a space not much smaller than yours. So - taking into account prices have skyrocketed, you should probably double it.

No, it was really quick - it took a few hours - so yes, allow for a day and they'll get it done in that time easily. Oh and after that you'll have to have the sprinkler on it every flipping day for about a month if it doesn't rain!

Prep shouldn't be too bad I don't think. Our next door neighbour is having to have part of our garden dug up to access her drains (don't ask), and apparently they (the drain people) are good at cutting out a section of turf and then replacing it as if you never knew.

But it's such a mess anyway we thought why not just get it done properly now. DH did wonder if it was a now or autumn thing, so thanks for confirming that Profiterole.

For about the same space as yours, it cost £1000 but half of that was digging up the horrible patio the people before us had put down. for just the turn it was about £500 I think and took less than a day. I am in Oxfordshire

How soon after returfing can it be played on? We are in need of serious re-grassing since the former moss has been reduced to a mud bath after mcuh playing of football and cricket.

About a week to 10 days from what I remember.

A neighbour of mine paid about £600 for an average job (she wishes she had paid more and got a better job). Best turf for normal robust lawn is Rolawn. Make sure you check where and when the sods are cut or else you could end up with rubbish (meadow grass full of weeds).
