Great day gardening with DS. We cleared away a dead lilac bush that was part of our hedge. NOW we have a huge gap between us and our neighbours. We have privet at the other end and holly near by. I love the look of our mixed almost field edging hedge. What can I put in the gap that will give me autumn colour & a good screen. Also how should I prepare the ground around it the ground still has a lot of various roots I think from a large Ivy that grew with the lilac probably killed it! very dry as well Hops grow well there too!
