advice on what to grow iv x2 1.2 by 3m plots

finally manged to get dh to "let" me have my share of the garden and im now creating two raised beds 1.2m by 3m as a family we,ll eat pretty much anything but as a novice im not really sure of whats best (and easiest) to grow can anyone help me?
(eventually i'd like to take over the whole garden and become self serficiant and have chickens but iv not told dh that yet! he he he! )

Get a copy of Carol Klein's Grown Your Own Veg. It's a great book giving detailed advice of when and how to plan all types of veg and salad. It also has an RHS guide to planting out a raised bed for early and late crops. The guide is for a 3x3m bed - but as luck would have it that includes a path so the actual sections are 1.2m x 3m!
