Would a mulberry tree attract wasps near a patio seating area?

I want to plant a tree on a little patch of lawn - quite close to my back door, but down a large step. Its for screening from neighbour when we are sitting on patio.

Looking at mulberry tree - will we be inundated with wasps when the fruit is out though?

I'm interested in this too as I planted one earlier this year and don't do well with wasps. All I can say is I have a lot of other fruit trees and they haven't given me a wasp problem (despite the Internet saying they would).

Harvesting ripe fruit promptly is probably going to be key. I've only seen lots of wasps on fruit that's been allowed to go over or rot on the ground.

I saw a mulberry tree in summer that was mature and I picked some of the fruits. I didn't see a single wasp.

How wide does yours spread by now?

I dont want it to get too wide a spread otherwise it will come too close to that raised walkway we have

We have a very ancient black mulberry that is about 7m high and 12m spread - but that is after how many hundred years?! You can probably keep it trimmed - we get ours looked after every 3 or so years to contain the leaning - they sprawl.

We have two mulberry trees. No wasp issues. Over time they do grow huge, but I’m sure you can cut them back to keep them a reasonable size. Gorgeous fruit but so delicate and short lived!

Lovely trees but not ideal next to a patio as the fruits stain rather badly. I walk past one regularly and the pavement is badly marked with fallen fruits.

How about an Amelanchier? Good to look at year round and can be pruned/shaped. Or a small Prunus with pretty blossom and good autumn colour? Prunus Kursar is a charming variety.

Just don't plant willow. We have willow and it is literally covered with millions of wasps. I want to burn it to the ground!
