Wanting to buy lots of tulip/daffodil/crocus/snowdrop bulbs but not sure where the best place to buy them from is that's reasonably priced.
My local garden centre won't sell me more than 10 bulbs of each and I ideally want to buy about 50 of each!
Any recommendations?

Home bargains does big kilogrammes bags of Daffodil bulbs for about £3.99?? Also check b and m for big bags. Not entirely sure on the price as it's been a while since i brought any.
Also are there any markets/car boot sale with a plant stall? They might have some for sale

Boston Bulbs might be worth a try.

Lidl usually sell huge bags of bulbs, but I’m not sure which week they are or will be in stock

Lidl currently have them https://www.lidl.co.uk/p/landscape-bulbs/p10053155

I've bought 2kg bags of daffodils from morrisons before- plain yellow, doubles and mixed varieties.

Suttons online currently have a sale on and you can get some fancy, less common tulip varieties. Generally 8 bulbs for £3 but some have more/less bulbs so check.

Will be planting more Daffs & Bluebells this year but at the moment the ground is rock hard and will need sustained rain before it softens up (we have had a bit of rain but mainly just showers followed by cloud).
Can see the hammer & chisel coming out again!

I used to buy them from Jacques Amanda in a previous garden job, they're mostly reasonably priced for the quality and many, many varieties

I’ve been ordering from Dutch Bulbs (wholesale arm of J Parkers) for years and the quality is consistent and customer service is good. Very reasonable prices, and a wide selection.

Well, I followed that link, and am now sixty quid the poorer.
I did manage to resist the temptation of the mega-expensive single bulbs of extreme beauty, but I now have some outrageously bonkers ones to look forward to. Like this

for example.

Tulip Rasta Parrot

Mix of green, red, orange, purple and yellow hues. Very showy group of tulips with deeply cut petals. Excellent as a cut flower, with their fascinating shapes. Flowering time: May. Height: 50cm.

@EdithStourton sorry 😅 I promise I have no stake in the company...

£30 for a single snowdrop bulb anyone? (already sold out, it wasn't me) https://jacquesamand.com/products/galanthus-dicks-early-yellow

From tulipmania to galanthomania... Bring back the speculative bulb bubble, so much more fun than any AI bubble.

Galanthus Dicks Early Yellow

One of the first-blooming yellow snowdrops. Snowdrops do best in shade or semi shade conditions and will grow well in most soils. IMPORTANT!  Galanthus sent to countries outside EU (Norway, Switzerland, USA etc) : must have a CITES permit. (additional...

It wasn't me either. I'm not splashing my bulb budget on two tiny bulbs.

All of mine came in packs of ten.

CheerfulBunny · 31/08/2026 21:20

I've previously been suckered in by offers from Thompson and Morgan and I honestly don't recommend them. Last lot I bought almost all came up blind. Since then I've stuck with Sarah Raven and not had any problems, in fact I was very pleased with the ones I purchased from them last year. Not the cheapest, but I think you get what you pay for. It's pretty disappointing to wait for months then get leaves but no flower.

ChocolateApples · 05/09/2026 13:37

I was reading earlier about a bulb that cost £4. In the early 20th century!!

Harrysmummy246 · 06/09/2026 16:02

Peter nyssen. That's who I use and recommend to clients who I design planting for

7238SM · 11/09/2026 09:17

I was back in Lidl yesterday and they had a whole display of various tulips, daffodils, narcissus and other bulb varieties. All £1.99 a pack with sizes ranging from 8 of the larger bulbs to 30 of the muscari. Not bulk packs, but might be of interest to others.

( I tried several times to get the pic straight but it kept failing!)
