‘Outsiding’ podcast with Adam Frost and Caitlin Moran.

I just read about a new podcast with Adam Frost and Caitlin Moran about gardening - first guest Bob Mortimer, second guest Kerry Godliman.

Haven’t listened yet but thought I’d put it here anyway.

Soooooo. I listened.

In my opinion……way too much Caitlin Moran and her cackling and being chatty. Shed be great with her own podcast though. Not enough Adam Frost. Not enough garden sounds - they have little bits eg rain pattering on a roof, but they only last a few seconds. I wanted them to walk around the garden with microphones on their wellies so you can hear the swooshing of the grass, and crunching etc. There are other people in the background you can hear laughing. - maybe the sound people? Didn’t like that. Good guests but a lot of generic chatter.

I think my expectations were a bit too high, and also slightly misplaced. I was looking forward to a chilled out podcast hearing people talk about veg and worms and pottering and tea and sheds. I’ll listen again as they get more guests, plus it might change as the weeks go on, there’s only two episodes so far.

I’ve seen a few video clips of this and watch as I love Bob Mortimer but then I remember how annoying Caitlin Moran is. Otherwise it’s right up my street.

She has a bit of that ‘ooh I’m mad, me’ vibe which is great! But not on a podcast with Adam.

Adam, if you’re listening, just go into your garden, do some digging and weeding, move your wheelbarrow from here to there, have a little chunter to yourself if you want to, slurp your tea, do some ‘ooh’s’ as you straighten up, carry on if it starts raining a bit, and record the whole thing. That’s all I want.

I enjoy reading Caitlin's newspaper columns, I like Adam Frost, and of course who doesn't like Bob Mortimer.
I thought - finally, a podcast I'll enjoy.
After listening to it I've decided perhaps I just don't like podcasts 🤷🏻‍♀️
I'm quite disappointed. I think I just don't enjoy people rambling on about nothing. It makes me feel very behind the times if I'm honest.

Oh isn’t she just so wacky and zany and not like the other girls!

I saw a trailer and had to turn it off after about 7 seconds. She is more full of herself than anyone else I can think of.

I love Adam Frost, but nothing on the planet would induce me to listen to Caitlin Moran. So irritating.

I think you want a very different podcast of Adam Frost and I'm not sure his wife would approve Could it please also include him chatting to Ash the cat?

I find Adam Frost very easy to listen to, but I don't think I can tolerate Caitlin Moran, she's what my 10 year old would call a 'pick me'. I want to listen to him chatting to someone else who knows about gardening, any of the many competent women in the horticultural field would be fine.

It must include cat chatting. And purring.

Maybe his wife could bring him a cup of tea, express some disapproval over his digging and remind him to not kill the plant they bought at the garden centre last week. Honestly, bring me all the mundane stuff please.

And Caitlin can have an entirely different podcast where she will be utterly brilliant.

And I’ll listen to Adam Frost and his amplified digging sounds on a loop.

It does amuse me when on GW they film Ash lying in the garden from a reasonable distance, and his purr is Extremely Loud. Perhaps he (understandably) doesn't like the camera man getting near, but they use Adam's microphone? My cats only purr when I'm nearby, they wouldn't do it sunbathing on their own.

Yes I've spent too much time thinking about this.

I've quite enjoyed it....I'll get my coat 😂
If I had one grumble about podcasts in general now is that they lean so much toward the visual, which defeats the purpose...or do they do it so that I listen and then give it a watch after?
