Were these winter-bought skimmias and hellebores forced, and when will they flower?

Hello

I got the below in the winter. Were they forced to flower early do you think, to be sold in the shops for autumn/Xmas? When do you think they will flower again?

Thanks!

Skimmia Japonica Rubella - flowering red when bought from Dobbies in Oct

Skimmia Finchy flowering white berries when bought from B&Q in Jan 2026.

Hellebore Cinnamon Snow (white) and a purple variety in flower when bought from B&Q in Jan 2026.

I would say they were flowering a out the right time and should reflower about the same time, depending of course on your local climate.

Garden centres usually sell plants around the time they flower. You've bought some autumn/winter flowering species, so you'll have to be patient and wait again until the autumn/winter.

Very few species get forced, it tends to be the indoor ones like Poinsettia.

They will have been kept in huge cool glasshouses in Holland and will have been encouraged to come into flower all at once so they were ready for shipping, so probably a little bit earlier than normal.

This year they should flower at the usual time for the species/variety. As you are in Scotland, that will be a bit later than they would down south.

Thank you all. I'm already planning ahead for my doorstep display for autumn/winter/xmas!
