I inherited a trio of silver birches and the dappled light on the papery bark in the evenings is so pretty this time of year.

Alliums always make me smile - they’re so improbable and whimsical, and the aubrieta is definitely the star of the rockery.

Myy Emily Bronte is putting forth exquisite blooms.
The lupins are lovely, too.

I have a cerise rose called Strawberry Shortcake which was a bit of a ‘this is all there is’ purchase at a supermarket, but it has exploded into huge numbers of blooms while my expensive David Austin roses are managing a couple each.

I have a lot of aquilegia scattered accidentally over the garden - presumably they self seed? They all look lovely.

The aubretia I bought a couple of months ago is still going strong.

My peonies and my dog ❤️

dudsville · 26/05/2026 19:14

What's gorgeous right now is the loud hum of so many bees of different kinds in all the flowers. And the fox family that we have. We don't do anything to tame them obviously but they've got used to us and ate halt to bask in the garden.

I can't name all the blooms, but it's a great mix of colour, and we also have a silver birch op!

A Gertrude Jekyll rose, the gorgeous pink roses are just opening out and the smell is fabulous. All my roses - Charles Darwin, Comte de Chambord, Ancient Mariner, Gabriel Oak and Warm Wishes, have far more buds on them this year than previous years. I guess all that rain we had previously has been a huge benefit to the garden.

I bought a blue Penstemon last year, I think it's called Heavenly Blue, I lost two previous ones but this one has exploded in size and colour this season and the bees love it. Next time I go to the garden centre, I'm going to look for another one.

Salvias. So many salvias in flower all at once.

LadyGardenersQuestionTime · 26/05/2026 19:21

I've got all my pots potted up and growing away like mad. Also for the first time I have peonies . The greenhouse is romping away and my roses are lovely. Perfect time of year.

Riversidegirl · 26/05/2026 19:29

Me 🤷‍♀️🤣

DeedlessIndeed · 26/05/2026 19:33

I have 2 different types of persicaria that look like a mass of fluffy little sugar pink flumps. They are my absolute favourites.

Aliums are doing well for me right now, as are the peonies and aquilegia. Irises are just starting to come out.

Hawthorne is still flowering and my first roses are opening.

Ferns and hostas are doing great too and still are looking very fresh!

Weepingwillows12 · 26/05/2026 19:35

I am really loving my Lark Ascending rose. It was a new bare root rose last year so it was pretty but small however has really come into its own this year. It's so beautiful.

Girliefriendlikespuppies · 26/05/2026 19:51

My peonies and roses look lovely.

FknOmniShambles · 26/05/2026 19:53

My honeysuckle. Never grown it before but thought it might work with this archway.

Our lupins are truly spectacular right now.

The alliums are still growing strong. The tree peony has finished, but the other peonies are full of buds.

NotMyRealAccount · 26/05/2026 20:00

My geums have been flowering like mad things for a couple of weeks and the lupins and self-seeded antirrhinums are just starting to flower. Some of the primulas I planted in the autumn have recovered after seeming to die off during the winter. The Sambucus nigricans that was a pathetic little thing when I planted it two years ago is taller than I am and is going to flower this year.

On the downside, only one of my sunflower seeds has germinated.

1984Winston · 26/05/2026 20:04

Lupins, alliums and foxgloves looking fantastic, also my peony that ive had at least 4 years is finally about to bloom!

JennyChawleigh · 26/05/2026 20:05

My hawthorn hedge which runs down one side of the garden and is covered with blossom and my candelabra primulas which seed everywhere in this heavy clay soil.

Tcateh · 26/05/2026 20:07

12000 daisies! Never seen so many, I've not been well enough to mow for over a week and it looks very lovely really.
Must do before Friday as we're getting some rain

DollopOfFun · 26/05/2026 20:09

No blooms yet, but my peony bush is laden, laden I tell you, with buds. She's ready to pop.

HoraceCope · 26/05/2026 20:12

last week i had an enormous amount of roses
today, they have all vanished!
i do have buds on my peonies
my lily is beautiful

Mossstitch · 26/05/2026 20:18

Chives & thyme in full bloom, lupins just starting😃

youngestisapsycho · 26/05/2026 20:22

Peonies and roses are looking gorgeous at the moment. DH has just put in a pond and removed some lawn and extended the flowerbeds.

GustavaKlimt · 26/05/2026 20:27

My rose arch is brilliant this year. David Austen Generous Gardener all over it. Its just lovely.
Also have Malvern Hills and Lady of Shallott that are covered in blooms

Greengreenfingers · 26/05/2026 20:37

Loving this thread for inspiration!

We moved out of London two years ago and we finally have a garden. If only I’d known how much joy it would bring me.

I planted some allium bulbs in autumn with my toddler and now they are towering over her and they are just brilliant.

Currently sitting out here after putting the kids to bed and just marvelling at the alliums, plus my new little nepeta and salvia, and hoping the hydrangeas will bloom.

WHY did nobody tell me how joyful gardening is?!

Koulibiak · 26/05/2026 20:38

Eremurus (fox tail lily) are spectacular right now, with flower spikes over a meter tall.

Clematis Etoile Violette has just started flowering.

Nicotianas and night scented stocks are in full bloom and smell divine in the evening.

Pelargoniums are exploding in a profusion of flowers.

And I got my first dahlia bloom today.

Also the trees - musa basjoo, tetrapanax and sambucus nigra are clearly enjoying the heat.

Ha ha, in my experience we gardeners never shut up about it! Your garden sounds lovely.
