Is it too early to put tomato plants outdoors?

Hi all. I am very new to gardening. I have decided to give tomato growing a go. I live just outside london. Haven't got a greenhouse. I bought a few tomato plants the other day. Is it too early to pot them and place outdoors? The nights and mornings are still chilly, so i am worried placing them outdoors iwill kill the plants? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks x

Depends where you live, what is the temperature low (at night) at the moment? Most people think it needs to be 10 degrees minimum.

Came to say exactly what @Agapornis said. They won’t die but they will sulk if it’s cold at night and they really need temperatures above (I believe) 14 degrees to thrive.

Mine went out today, southwest.

Mine are happily outside and have been for about 2 weeks. In the South East. The green house was actually too hot so I put them outside with my courgettes and cucumbers. They are flowering already, and my courgette has its first fruit growing too.

You're probably OK down there. We're still getting the odd frost and some daytime temperatures in single figures here in the Northeast.

London is due some cold nights next week, so just be careful.

As they are in pots, put them out, you can always bring them back in if frost threatens.
I'm in Kent and mine have been out for 3 weeks now (planted in the ground) and have a few flowers.

I'd check the weather where you are. There's going to be a run of cold nights this week where I live, so I'm holding off for another week.
