Can anyone identify this pink flower/plant? It's rather pretty, not sure if it's a weed as I've just moved here. Thanks!

Can't quite tell from your photo, but Google pictures of Himalayan balsam. If it is that you need to get rid of it as it's very invasive.

I don't think Himalayan balsam is in flower yet. @CreepingCrone Can you do a close-up photo of the flowers please.

Pink campion. I suppose it's a weed , though pretty - also takes over if you let it! But it's easy to pull out. I'd be leaving the flowers for the bees then pulling it out (and it'll reseed itself for next year)

DreamingOfGeneHunt · 05/05/2026 13:55

Yes it's campion, I keep it because it's so pretty.

Oooh. Campion! Thank you. It's just in one planter so I'll enjoy it whilst it's in flower 🌸🌸🌸

Bees and butterflies like it, and it doesn't spread like crazy as some weeds do. If you can spare a little patch of garden for wild flowers why not transfer it there?

WhoWhereWhatWhy · 06/05/2026 22:02

I have that campion and it goes on and on if you deadhead. It’s great.

WildLeader · 06/05/2026 22:17

Use google lens- that will id the plant

Yes, I agree, Pink Campion, I have some round the wild pond at the bottom of my garden.
Really pretty and the bees love it.
