Also can you feed it with sulphate of potash at the same time? Need to feed my trees and the recommendation is a 10 10 10 fertiliser however I’ve read sulphate of potash every 3 years is a good idea too.

A fertiliser with a balanced NPK of 10.10.10 is going to be ten equal parts each of nitrogen (N), phosphorous (P) and potassium (K). Sulphate of potash is basically adding more potassium (K) which is to assist plants in flowering and fruit production. Growmore makes a granular 10.10.10 feed.

The alternative to both of the fertilisers you are considering would be rose fertiliser which is usually 5.5.10 so has additional potassium in it already. After all, apples (the Malus genus) are a member of the rose (Rosaceae) family.

How old is the tree, and is it in the ground or in a large pot? What was its crop like last year?

If it is a relatively young tree, then it is probably better to use a supplement higher in nitrogen to encourage strong growth and a good branch framework rather than to encourage fruiting at this stage.

Many thanks, got some Growmore. Should I give them sulphate of potash too? 7 year old and 51/2 year old trees.

How well did they flower last year?
