Iris help please?

Please could someone give me some Iris help?

I'm keen to get some in garden.

I like the types with the basal fan of foliage, the bigger the better. I'm not interested in the dwarf reticulata types.

The garden has really well drained soil but chalky (SE) with full sun in summer but also full shade in winter, the sun hides behind the house. Theres a small area that gets maybe 1 / 2 hours of sun near a row of conifers, tje soil is likely to be poor here but I'm happy to try to improve it while planting.

Given the alkaline soil and low sun in winter, do you think theres any iris I can grow?

Thanks 😊

So you the Irises you describe are the Bearded Irises. If they are full sun in summer I think you'll be fine. Iris siberica have a similar look but cope with a little more shade. Iris foetidissima is the shade lover but the flowers are not very showy.
