My lovely DiL got me a £30 garden voucher for Christmas. My garden is 15 feet wide by 21 feet long. I ham slightly disabled so I need something that I can plant and leave.

I don’t have flowers I prefer shrubs, particularly coloured stems, bark or leaves. The plant should have a potential height of no more than 4 feet.

The garden is really warm with lots of trees. Hope my photo will help.

How about a climber to cover your fence?
I'd probably pick a clematis or jasmine, but if youre not into flowers how about Boston Ivy for gorgeous autumn colour or Garrya Elliptica James Roof for evergreen and beautiful hanging catkin type things...

Sorry just seen you don't want higher than 4foot.... perhaps a ceonothus horizontalis Yankee Point, evergreen and spreads nicely around a pot, blue blossom in spring? Or a variegated cornus for bright leaves in spring and summer and colored bark in winter?

Cornus 'Midwinter Fire'. Benefits from pruning between every 1-3 years but that's about it. Under planted with snowdrops is stunning!

Thank you for these suggestions. This is it autumn phase, in spring and summer the fence is covered. I do have two midwinter fire and that was going to be my choice if I can’t find anything similar.

If you already have Midwinter Fire, how about a yellow cornus instead?
