turks turban- how to cook

for the first time I have succesfully grown Turks turban squash, and they look amazing
BUT they are sooooo solid and the skin is sooooo tough, it's very difficult to cut them up or peel them

has anyone found a good way of dealing with this? or does the skin soften eventually?

oh brill thank you

so when you roast them whole, you literally stick them in the oven whole?
does it take ages?

It takes less time than a potato in the oven. And you can eat the skin once it's cooked.

make sure you prick it first...

thank you for the advice, tried it the other day- put it in the oven which was on for something else then put it in the fridge till the next day
worked very well - I scored the skin
