Tree labels

Our primary school is lucky enough to have quite a few mature trees in the grounds and we’d like to label them. The everyday name and then possibly the Latin name as well, or maybe the country of Origen.

This is the label that the National Arboretum uses - engraved acrylic - has anyone used something like this? We’d have to raise the money, so I don’t want anything too spenny!

Could you perhaps contact local parks and arboretums to find out whether they have any spare ones they could let you have? Or maybe they might know where you could source a budget alternative.

The Royal Horticultural Society has an education & community outreach department and they also run educational programmes and school visits, so they might be able to assist.

If you have a local University or maybe college that does product design or something else technical, they should have a laser cutter and would be able to make you labels if you supply the two tone acrylic and work the writing that you want ln the labels. The hardest bit is working out what the trees actually are!

Apparently our Borough has a Tree Warden, so I'm going to try to track them down!
