Can rescue an over watered peace lily?

I am not great with indoor plants. I recently bought a peace lily and I think I have over watered it because the leaves are rotting away at the bottom. I have put it on the window sill and not watered it for a week. Will it recover?

Do you mean the leaves are mouldy, or just yellow? If you upload a photo it'll be easier to help. I've been known to leave them standing in water for ages, they don't seem to mind. Have you poured out the excess water?

I only water them when the leaves are wilting. You don't have to water on a weekly schedule.

All the leaves are rotting from the bottom and smell nasty.
