My budget is only £25 for an 80th birthday gift. I'd like a shrub for the garden, order in the next couple of days for delivery by the weekend. The recipient has a smallish garden but they know what they are doing. TIA.

Take a look at M&S as they have some

I second M&S x

I've ordered garden plants from Suttons before which arrived intact and have grown well. They aren't packaged like a gift or something you'd order from a florist though, but then they are 1/4 of the price.

I've seen reviews saying that J. Parkers have very poor reviews, dead plants arriving etc.

I have an amazing orchid from M and S that had flowered near constantly for 2 years.

but I would suggest giving a David Austin voucher. £25 may well cover a bare root rose.

I looked at M&S but they only two they had were £45 and £50 and weren't what I wanted even if I could pay that. I really want something that will last longer than a bunch of flowers. I could go up a bit for the right thing.

Crocus worth a look. Nice quality plants, and they guarantee them for a year (maybe even 5, but I might be tripping)

Thank you everyone, looking through all suggestions.

Bad experience with J Parker’s (although they did refund me with no quibble but very disappointing for the recipient) but I replaced it with hardy Peruvian lily from gardening express - it arrived beautifully healthy and huge. Highly recommend!
