Is there any role for a gas flame weed burner in destroying bamboo rhizomes ?

Trying to avoid heavy duty weedkiller & wondering if weed burners would burn bamboo rhizomes. Or are they only useful on dinky weeds on paths ?

Bamboo rhizomes are usually within the first foot of soil, but I unless you reach them I don’t see how burning the exposed parts will help.

I think you might need something more like a rocket launcher for bamboo, OP! Unless you're happy to invest in several hundred gas canisters...

Good luck! I had to deal with invasive bamboo once, but was lucky enough to be living in the middle of nowhere so could have a bloody big bonfire 👹

My weed burner is electric, not gas. It has a variety of attachments, one of which is a heat pin that you can thrust into the soil and the heart of the weed's root. Scroll through the pictures until you get to the array of five attachments - it's the one on the extreme right of the picture. It's about 3½" long.
However, if bamboo rhizomes are at a depth of approx 12" then the burner is probably not the answer.

Jumping on an old post- but do you recommend this weed burner? I look for one every year and every year fail. I have cobbles and the weeding is endless. I need help.

It's quite fierce and scary! I find it annoying that I can't use it where it would be most help e.g. in the (plastic) polytunnel or near the (plastic) netting in the fruit cage but I would have thought that it would be fine with cobbles.

I see that the link takes you to e-bay. I can't remember if that was the original link but it seems unlikely, I don't use e-bay much. I bought mine from Aldi.
