Hi need advice as total novice. Ordered a rose bush for a colleague’s retirement present which arrived today in a pot. How do I make sure I don’t kill it before her retirement do in ten days time? Do I keep it in shade ? Sun? How much water etc ……?

Did it not come with instructions? I ask because mine did and I’m glad I read them or I would have repotted when it specifically said not to.

Type the name of the rose into google uk and ask how to care for it.

Keep it out of full boiling sun . Partial shade is fine . Water it if the compost feels dry . A little water every day at this time of year .

Better to slightly overwater than under water. I'm assuming it is in full leaf at the moment. Even in partial shade and out of the wind, it is going to need a pint a day minimum.

Pick it up and get used to how heavy it feels, then you will be able to tell whether it feels lighter and needs watering.
