I pruned it last year after flowering as far as I recall that was the advice as it flowers on new growth

what did I do wrong?
it’s in a sunny spot where I usually grow tomatoes successfully

I've never pruned my jasmine (have cut off the odd branch which has grown too far in the wrong direction)! It's 10 years old and 2m high by 3m wide (was about 60cm tall when I bought it). It's currently covered in flowers and you can smell the scent everywhere in the house when the windows are open.

Did you prune it too hard? Is it in a pot or the ground?

My Jasmine was looking very sad and I noticed it had a mealy bug infestation (look for bugs on the underside of the leaves). I cleaned all the bugs off and pruned the shoots with heavy infestations and now it’s never looked better. Loads of new growth and flowers

I had to hack our big jasmine back a lot earlier this year, and so far it is growing like a bastard but not showing all that many flowers.

Thanks for lots of ideas
it’s looking healthy, no bugs
@SleepingisanArt its about 8 feet by 2 feet growing up a staircase, planted in a raised bed with no base
I did cut it back and quite hard last year maybe I should have pruned it again in the spring ?
@thatsawhopperthatlemon mine sounds the same. I cut it 2 back years ago

What sort of jasmine is it?

RowsOfFlowers · 23/06/2025 22:30

Does it need feeding?
