Waited until it stopped raining this evening to reposition an established hellebores plant.
Have dug around it quite a bit but just can’t seem to get it out! I fear it’s being massacred.
Any suggestions?

Arghhh! Google says they’re very deep rooted!

It’s completely the wrong time of year to risk moving it, wait until after the first frost’s.

How dry is the soil in your garden? I’d give it a good soak and try again. You might need to dig quite a big rootball.

Just managed to get it out! I need a lie down.

Had to dig a hole and then dig the spade into the hole to get depth to the roots.

Not sure it will survive though.
