I have noticed this on quite a few of my rose leaves on one plant. I have removed some of the leaves but i don't have a clue what is causing it or what I should do to prevent it. Can anyone help please

It looks like they’re being eaten. If you look at the edge of the leaf in the bottom left corner, I think I can see a possible culprit - looks like a tiny caterpillar but I’d guess some sort of sawfly larva. Check the undersides of the leaves.
I’m not sure what you should do about them, beyond removing the affected leaves.

Maybe this?

the RHS website is pretty good for identifying pests and diseases - I just googled ‘rose pests rhs’ to get to the right place.

Large rose sawfly / RHS

Large rose sawfly / RHS

The caterpillar-like larvae of large rose sawflies feed on the leaves of wild and cultivated roses.

It does seem so, there's quite a few leaves that have been affected. I might give It a spray of rose clear.

@Prettyroses spray under the leaves as well as on top. As well as that tiny caterpillar spotted by a keen-eyed @ErrolTheDragon it could be leaf miners as well. Can't really tell from the photo, my eyesight isn't that brilliant these days.
