Can we play a game of foxglove, hollyhock or verbascum?

I planted these last year and obviously forgot to label them and now can't remember what they are. If you open the images fully I've labelled them what Google lens thinks they are but it's a bit consistent between leaves and flowers. Any ideas?

A couple more. These are looking a bit worse for wear.

1 verbascum
2 foxglove
3 hollyhock

Schoodle · 18/05/2025 14:36

Is that according to the numbers on the photos @22mumsynet ? Confusingly they've uploaded in a random order but I though photo number 4 was hollyhock?

Bottom row centre = foxglove

The one that says '3.flowers' is definitely a fox glove.

Schoodle · 18/05/2025 14:39

This is what Google lens thinks:

  1. Verbascum or foxglove (the one in the pot with small pink flowers)
  2. Verbascum (bit dead)
  3. Foxglove (bigger pink trumpety flowers)
  4. Hollyhock (no photos of flowers as it's not flowered yet)

1 verbascum

3 hollyhock

I agree,

NeverDropYourMooncup · 18/05/2025 14:40

1 is verbascum
3 is foxglove
4 is hollyhock

Apressheate · 18/05/2025 14:41

Top row right = verbascum

So all agreed on number three being foxglove which is a shame as it's the healthiest looking of the lot but I've heard it's poisonous to cats so I might have to dig it up.

They don't eat it.

Apressheate · 18/05/2025 14:43

I have foxgloves which are causing no problems to visiting cats.

Schoodle · 18/05/2025 14:45

@Apressheate we have cats, and also some visiting cats, and the foxglove has been there since last year with no issues, but I only found out they were poisonous recently so I'm not sure whether it's just going to make me worry!

Was thinking if they brushed by it and then licked themselves?

As you say, no issues. Other plants are also poisonous. I wouldn’t be worried.

They're not lillies.

ETA: sorry, unnecessarily terse. Lilies are deadly because of the pollen that gets everywhere, foxgloves aren't like that.

@NeverDropYourMooncup thank you, that's reassuring to know.
